Wikipedia and Search Engine Optimization
Thursday, January 1st, 2009Getting your site linked from Wikipedia pages is a great idea, but it won’t help your search engine optimization strategy. This is because Wikipedia tags each link with a nofollow clause that tells the search engines to ignore it as a link on the page. Although you don’t get search credit for this crosslink, you still may get people to click on it and generate traffic, which is what you were going for anyway.
